Anti-Poverty Week

Anti-Poverty Week is being held this week to:

  • strengthen understanding of the causes and consequences of poverty;
  • encourage research, discussion and action – including action by individuals, communities, organisations and governments.

Everyone is encouraged to help reduce poverty by organising an activity this week or take part in an activity organised by others.

Having depressed or negative inner thoughts?

Have you ever counted in a day how many sad, negative, angry, depressed, or self-deprecating thoughts you have about yourself of someone else? Most of us spend our days drowning in negative thought and we don’t question it.

The way we think influences the way we feel.

Imagine a cave man’s inner thought telling him he was not cut out to hunt. Hunger would quickly motivate him to challenge these thoughts and to take affirmative action.

  • Start today to replace negative thoughts with positive.
  • Consciously try to catch your negative thoughts and replace them with positive thoughts.
  • Teach your children to do this.
  • Try saying: “I love and accept myself for who I am”; “My body is healthy; my mind is brilliant”.
